Sunburns and you! : Everybody hopes to get a golden tan while lying in the sun. Although sunburn is considered as a side effect of a visit to a beach or the pool, it should still be taken very seriously. Everybody knows the rule of wearing sunscreen. However, people do forget. Be smart in the sun.
The most simple way to treat sunburn is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Sunburns are no enjoyment and can be savage but there is always a way to treat it. This problem is most common among adults 18 to 29 years old. According to sources, approximately 65% of white people in this age group had a sunburn at least once a year.

Never think that heat causes you sunburn. It is the excessive exposure to UV light does the havoc. UV and sunburns!

Did you know that 80 percent of the UV rays pass through the clouds? So, donā€™t think that if you go out on a cloudy day you are safe. UV light only sounds magical but it can cause the skin to burn, redness and swelling. One very important complication related to sunburn is the premature aging of your skin. Do you want to look like an 80 when you are just in your 40ā€™s? I bet nobody wants to. Repeated sunburns accelerate skinā€™s aging process. Skin aging due to UV light is known as photoaging.

Consequences of photoaging include:

ā— Freckles on your face and shoulders
ā— Rough and dry skin
ā— Deep wrinkles symptoms, in reality, are nothing but the cry of suffering organs.

Symptoms of sunburn

Symptoms of sunburn usually come to light after few hours of exposure. Beneath mentioned are some of the symptoms of sunburn :
1. Skin which feels hot to touch
2. Swelling and pain
3. Dehydration
4. Tender, hot and red skin
5. Little fluid-filled blisters ( may break )
6. A few days later, peeling and itching of skin take place.
They say prevention is better than cure. Treatment for sunburn should start as soon as a person gets to know that he/she have symptoms.

Remedies for sunburn

Now we will discuss some remedies for sunburn :
1. First of all, you need to stop going out in the sunlight. Staying away from the sun while the burn heals is very important.
2. Let sunscreens be your best friend: Look for a sunscreen with SPF (Sun protection factor) of at least 30 and one with continuous coverage.
3. Donā€™t pop the blisters: If there is the appearance of blisters, control yourself and please donā€™t break it. Instead, you can cover them with gauze.
4. Avoid tight clothes: Remove tight watches or rings. Feel yourself comfortable in loose clothing.
5. Feel cool: Cool here doesnā€™t mean an ice bath. Skip the ice as it can damage your skin. Apply wet cloth ( like a cool compress ) to the burned area for relief.
Sunburns are easily treatable with the right steps. But, prevention is always better than cure! Please ensure that you try to take your sunburns seriously!
